Free Web Promotion AdviceAre you looking for some web promotion advice? If you have answered yes to this question then this article could well be worth a read. I have been helping people to promote and market their websites for the last eight years and have gained a great deal of knowledge in this period. The rules of search engine optimisation and web promotion are constantly evolving, what worked well last year does not necessarily work well this year. I am one of those freaks who actually enjoys keeping up to date with any changes that occur in this ever changing industry. So you have a website but what are your main keywords or key phrases of the site? As an example my main website is to do with speech therapy and is aimed at helping people who stutter to achieve fluency. My main keywords/phrases are therefore stutter, stuttering, stuttering therapy, stuttering treatment, stuttering advice and stuttering information amongst others. It is important that these keywords appear on your homepage as this will help the main search engines, such as Google, to spider and find the site when it has its crawl. Be careful not to over do it however, I have seen some websites which include each of their key phrases about eight times each. This makes the site look very spammy and is likely to do more damage than good. To obtain higher search engine rankings you also need to gain backward links, this is where other webmasters point a link to your site on their website. The link text they use should be from your list of main keywords. Do not just concentrate on promoting one word, try maybe three or four. So how do you obtain these backward links? Firstly do not by them from a link broker! This should be standard practice however Google did a massive crackdown last year and it now goes against their guidelines. I would start by asking your friends and family if they would be willing to add a link on their personal and business websites. I also strongly believe in article marketing, this has produced some excellent results for me. |
